One World Trade Center, the replacement for New York’s destroyed twin towers, is now 100 storeys high.
The tower is expected to surpass the Empire State Building in the coming weeks, currently New York’s tallest building.
Designed by David Childs of SOM, Manhattan’s new skyscraper will top out at 104 storeys.
A loft height of 541 metres will be achieved through a large antenna.
Once open in early 2014 it will be the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, surpassing the 442m Willis Tower in Chicago.
