The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC), the Gold Sponsor for the Commercial Interior Design Awards, is offering an award for the most ‘Outstanding use of American hardwood in a project’ for the second year running.
“The CID Awards is a well-established event for the design sector and our continued association with it will allow us to throw the spotlight on American hardwoods in the Middle East,” said Roderick Wiles, AHEC Director for Africa, Middle East, India and Oceania.
“Given that wood has not only enjoyed a renaissance, but has become an essential material for architects across the globe, we are eager to raise awareness about American hardwoods within the specifying community across the MENA region.”
Last year, the award was bagged by Zayed University’s new library, using American black walnut. The library was part of the overall project designed by Hadi Teherani, including 28 buildings constructed for the new Khalifa City campus.
Zayed University was awarded the top honour prize from a list of contestants including the Pavilion Downtown Dubai, M’s Restaurant and Hakkasan Abu Dhabi.
This year, the CID Awards are taking place on the 25th of September at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers.
